INFORMATION THAT WE MAY COLLECT FROM YOU
Actively Submitted Data – Information that You Give Us
When you request information, subscribe to a mailing list or a service, respond to an online survey or otherwise actively send us data, we usually collect data such as your name, e-mail address(es), mailing address(es), telephone number(s), and certain information related to the business you represent such as number of employees and industry type. You can opt out of providing such information by not entering it when asked; and, if such information is required in order to allow us to respond to your inquiry, you will receive a notice advising you of this. In each such instance, you will know what data we collect through the Site, because you actively submit it.
Passively Tracked Data – Information that We Get from Your Use of Our Services
When you visit the Site, we passively track certain information about your computer and Internet connection, such as the IP address of your computer and/or Internet service provider, the date and time you access the Site, the Internet address of websites from which you link to our Site, and your movements on, and use of, our Site. This is statistical data about our users' browsing actions and patterns, and does not identify an individual. We use this information to identify return visitors to the Site and to understand how the Site is being used.
Information about Others
If you use our Site to upload, share and/or distribute web-based content to colleagues, we may store the information of such recipients.
We use technologies that websites commonly employ to track site interactions (including "cookies") to improve Site performance and enhance user experience. Cookies are small data files that we store on your browser and that are transferred to your computer's hard drive. (Additional information on cookies is available at www.allaboutcookies.org – a third party website.)
We use 3 types of cookies, depending upon the source of the cookie and the use to which the information is put. Kantar Retail cookies are used for login and authentication purposes; and to track sessions. We also use "analytics" cookies powered by the external Google Analytics service (www.google.com/analytics/). They allow us to recognize unique users, count the number of visitors, and to see how visitors move around the site when they are using it. This helps us to improve the way our site works, for example, by ensuring that users are finding what they are looking for easily. Finally, cookies are sourced from our third party service providers (for example, our e-learning technology partner and WebEx, our videoconferencing service). Third party cookies typically expire at the conclusion of the user’s session.
If you follow a link to the Site from a source – such as a search engine - that we use to generate visitors, we may record information about your being “referred” to the Site by that source.
You do not need to have cookies turned on to visit our Site. You can block cookies by turning them off - activating the setting on your browser that allows you to refuse the setting of all or some cookies. However, if you use your browser settings to block all cookies (including essential cookies) you may not be able to access all or parts of our Site.
If you want to access web pages that require registration, you need to accept a mandatory session cookie, which is deleted when you leave the Site.
We may use other standard technologies to track your use of our Site. For example, we may include “web beacons” in email messages or newsletters to determine whether messages have been opened and acted upon. This enables us to measure the overall effectiveness of our online content.
Unless you also actively submit personal information such as your name or address, passively tracked data does not typically allow us to identify you personally. To the extent permitted by applicable law, we reserve the right to combine passively tracked data with personal data that you actively submit.
